He was a great guy to hang around, knew everything about this hobby and will be sorely missed by all. RIP my friend. Bobzilla I am passing this email I received from Jim Lucas, a close friend to all of us and Bud. To the many other Friends of Bud. Some people you get to know come and go with not much effect on you but that was not the case for me with Bud. For almost 20 years one of the main reasons I enjoyed Flying so much at Eldorado was pulling out my folding chair and visiting with Bud and just talking about all the things we talked about out there in the desert. Sometimes we would fly for while, just as often we enjoyed just sitting and talking. We’d often bet a dollar on whether Jim whats his name would actually get his plane off the ground and make a complete circuit. I will miss Bud very much and wish I had been with him in his last days. Kathy and I travel a lot now days and I still teach at UNLV and I don’t fly much anymore. We were up in Canada when Bud passed. A number of “good flying buddies” are now gone … Lyle Blumreich, Chuck Patterson, Chuck Harper, others, and now Bud. Jim Miller, Jim Ranney, Bob Busse are you guys still out there? (Yes, Where are you Col Lucas?) Is there a “Rainbow Bridge” up there somewhere (like for our pets) where old RV Flyers meet up before moving on to some great flying field in the sky. Hopefully so. I’ll always remember that day Bud said watch this supper snap roll and kaboom off came his right wing. So keep em flying bud and do work some more on those landings. You were a special friend and I’ll miss you. We’ll all miss you. Jim Lucas ![]()

Guest | I knew Bud well enough to know he was one hell of a nice guy. I will remember a great sense of humor and the kind of person you naturally and easily can warm up to. I consider myself richer for knowing Bud the short time I did. Keep an eye on my transmitter link for me will ya Bud, I can use all the help I can get!!
